In order to aid your transition into the College, we invite incoming international students to attend our International Pre-Orientation. The programming for Pre-Orientation was recommended by current international students in the College. Sessions offered during IPO will help students begin their transition into the College and will help students prepare for their first year in an American classroom. For students with little or no experience in an American classroom, this program will prove to be extremely worthwhile.
The program begins on Sunday, September 16th and culminates with a move-in day on Friday, September 21st. It is an opportunity for international students to meet faculty, staff, and students who are here to help orient them to Chicago and the College. The program provides students with some time to recover from travels and relax in preparation for Orientation while also serving as an introduction to the culture of UChicago and the city of Chicago.
This program is optional and space is limited. The fee is $450.00 per student and covers the cost of transportation from Midway or O-Hare International Airports, the 5-day stay in a residence hall on campus, and all off-campus travel during the duration of the program. If you elect to participate, the fee will be included on your University Winter Quarter tuition bill.
The application to participate in International Pre-Orientation will be available in April. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us. For more information, please our Frequently Asked Questions about International Pre-Orientation.
